DUNE:
First Edition, First State, First Printing of DUNE by Frank Herbert, with the very scarce First State dust jacket. A Fine/near fine condition book in a Fine/Near fine stunning dust jacket with the four lines for the publisher information on the rear flap. Part one of the Dune series (initially a trilogy), of one of the most significant science fiction novels of the 20th century.

Original blue cloth boards with white titles to spine. The book is in beautiful condition with vibrant blue clean cloth, sharp corners and no edgewear but a small cloth blemish to the lower right front corner. The binding is tight and square. The end papers are in perfect condition being clean and bright with no owner names, no inscriptions, no bookplates, and no bookstore stamps. The internal pages are very crisp, clean, bright, flat and still stiff with no marks, no writing, no stains, no bent pages and no foxing. The outer page block is bright. Beautiful book, internally appearing as unread. DUNE is signed on a laid-in signature by Frank Herbert “Frank Herbert”. This book would be considered in fine condition but for the one small corner blemish. Please see images.

The book comes with the First edition, First State dust jacket in fine/near fine condition. The requisite 4 lines for the Chilton Books publisher’s address are present to the rear inside flap designating the true FIRST edition, FIRST STATE jacket for this title. The jacket has benefited from some very very slight restoration by an expert paper conservator to the outer spine tips, and as such presents as a fine/near fine example. The jacket has strong vibrant colors to the front and spine, and the rear panel is unusually bright. The jacket has No rips, No chips, No stains, No fading, No edgewear, and No foxing. DUNE MESSIAH:
First Edition, First printing Fine condition book in an unrestored Fine/near fine dust jacket. As called for there is no date on the title page other than the 1969 date, and the copyright page indicates no other editions. The book boards are a medium cafe brown color which was unique to the first edition, first printing as later printings and book club editions had black or red boards. The book was the second book of the original Dune Trilogy. This title has always been a fragile book due to the nature of the material used for the boards.

Clean, crisp brown paper boards with unfaded black titles to Front and Spine. Stunning condition book, with the boards still having their vibrant original sheen. The book has sharp corners and no edgewear. The binding is tight and square. The end papers are clean and bright, and have no owner names, no book plates, no inscriptions and no bookstore stamps. The internal pages are crisp, clean, bright and flat with no marks, no stains, no writing, no bent pages, and no foxing. The outer page block is bright.
