A SUPERB ORIGINAL LARGE HIGHLY DETAILED INK DRAWING OF “THE BEE MAN” SIGNED by Maurice Sendak “M Sendak”, who additionally added the character’s name of “The Bee Man”. The Bee Man was one of Sendak main characters from one of his books.
Presented newly matted, framed and glazed in a 22K gold leaf frame. Framed to a finish size of: 18.25″ X 15.25″
A beautiful large extremely detailed original drawing of The Bee Man, a unique character from Sendak’s namesake book who is usually seen surrounded in a cloud of bees carrying his walking stick. This old-world, long-haired gent is seen wearing shoes with decorative buckles, a peasant style shirt with knee high pants and long socks. The art was rendered in dark ink on vellum/onion skin. Sendak signed the piece lower right , “M Sendak”, and added the name/title “The Bee Man” lower left. Presented newly framed and glazed in a 22K gold leaf frame with a completed size of 18.25″ X 15.25″. Art sheet by sight of 9″ x 6″. The piece was framed using fully archival materials and UV glass for full protection and preservation.
The art is in great condition with strong vibrant ink. The vellum has some light age toning.
PROVENANCE: The piece will come with a Certificate of Authenticity (LOA/COA), from University Archives, John Reznikoff, who is the of the premier authenticators for PSA/DNA, James Spence and numerous auction houses. (see images)
