This charming piece is for the original final artwork used to create the illustration on page 37 of “Harry Kitten And Tucker Mouse”. The striking charming illustration depicts the main characters, Harry Kitten and Tucker mouse dogging falling rocks. An absolutely adorable illustration! What we love about this piece is the clean artistic rendering by Garth, and the fact that it is a giant oversize illustration which pacts a lot of presence. Would be stunning framed! Signed by Garth Williams lower-right of the art.
CONDITION:
Pen And Ink on paper, size of 14.5″ X 17″. The art is clean and in excellent condition. Small surface abrasion to the middle of the board in blank space and not affecting the art. Not framed. Signed by Garth Williams lower right of the art.
PROVENANCE:
This piece came from an auction house that is commissioned to sell the artwork direct from the estate of Garth Williams. Paper work stating such will be included with the purchase along with a copy of the invoice.
The art is in excellent condition and would be stunning framed.
**Garth Williams was a prominent illustrator of several of the most prominent children’s books including Stuart Little (1945), Charolette’s Web (1952), The Cricket In Times Square, and The Rescuers (1959). Many of his original illustrations from these book have sold attaining high premiums, including his original illustration of the dust jacket for Charolette’s Web which realized $155,000 at auction in 2010, and between $10,000 and $45,000 for original artwork of the interior pages. Other notable auction pricing of Williams original illustrations include sales of the original artwork for the interior pages of Stuart Little which also averaged in the $15,000 range per piece.
