Near Fine book in a very good to near fine dust jacket.
The first edition of the novelisation of the famous film. Vargo Statten was one of the pseudonyms of the author John Russell Fearn, who was a prolific author especially in the genre of speculative and science fiction. May not be the perfect copy but it is the lowest price copy on the market in a dust jacket.
Near Fine blue cloth boards with vibrant gilt titles to the spine. The book has sharp corners and no edgewear. The binding is tight and square. The end papers have offsetting shadows, and the front end paper has an tiny, neat owner name and date. The internal pages are clean with no writing, no stains, no handling marks, no bent pages and no foxing but very slight to the first two pages in the book.
The original price clipped dust jacket has benefited from slight restoration by an expert paper conservator to the to the upper and lower tips of the spine, not affecting the lettering. The jacket has the iconic art scene to the front panel depicting the 'creature' holding the woman. The front panel still maintains the strong vibrant colors, the rear panel shows some age toning. Otherwise, the jacket has no rips, no chips, no stains and no tears but a touch of rubbing to the spine. The jacket is now placed in a new clear archival cover.
Overall, a fantastic example of this difficult to locate title at a great price!
