When We Were Very Young – A.A. Milne

young.1 (453 x 600)

Methuen & Co, London, 1924

First Edition, First Printing Beautiful fresh clean book, with the scarce original first edition, first state dust jacket. The book is in extraordinary condition considering that many children’s book are usually found “well loved and read”.

The book has blue cloth boards with bright vibrant gilt to the front and spine. The book has sharp corners with one tiny tip bump, and no edgewear. The binding is tight and square. The cloth is clean and bright. The end papers pages are clean with an inscription to the front end paper dated in the year of publication. Otherwise No owner names, no bookplates and no bookstore stamps. The interior pages are clean, bright and flat with No stains, No writing, No bent pages, and No foxing. Bright gilt to the top of the page block as issued. Beautiful book, with the “ix” located on the contents page. Scarce in this condition. Please see images.

The stunning original first printing dust jacket has benefited from some restoration by an expert paper conservator and as such presents as a near fine example. The jacket is unusually bright with vibrant colors and a hint of the more common typical sunning to the spine. The jacket has no rips, no chips, no edgewear, no fading, and no rubbing. The jacket is the first state of the first edition showing the correct blurbs to the inner flaps and the 7/6 Net price to the spine. A beautiful example of this fragile dust jacket. Please see detailed images.

A very handsome example of this title. Presents beautifully on the shelf
