Offered here is a fantastic near fine crisp hardcover book, with a superb full body drawing of the Wild Thing, Moishe, by Maurice Sendak. Published as “Wo die wilden Kerle wohren”, by Diogene Verlag AG Zurich, 1967″, the outstanding large drawing is rendered in vibrant strong contrasting black ink. The “bible” for Sendak collectors is known in the book trade as “Hanrahan.” Joyce Hanrahan, collector, author and publisher of Maurice Sendak, created the most expansive bibliographical guide to determining first editions of Sendak’s books with a section on ephemera as well, “Works of Maurice Sendak” 1947-1994, which quickly followed up with a revised and expanded edition in 2001.This bibliography gives very specific information on how to identify first editions of each Sendak book.

PROVENANCE: Ex: Joyce Hanrahan Collection. The piece will also be accompanied by a Letter Of Authenticity by University Archives/John Reznikoff, who is one of the premier authenticators for PSA/DNA, James Spence, in addition to numerous other auction houses.

** Note: Maurice Sendak donated all of his original book illustrations to the Rosenbach Foundation in Philadelphia leaving very little of his original artwork available for private purchase.

The art is in great condition and presents beautifully. Artwork by Sendak of his main characters is very scarce!
